A Vibrant Creation of an Unknown Artist

I couldn't help but wonder the amazing creativity and the design sense and style in lettering, of that unknown sign board painter.

One lazy afternoon saw me roaming the buzy streets of a market place in Andhra Pradesh. A colourful shop board caught my attention… Wow!!! That was no ordinary signage but a superb piece of traditional art. The name of the shop was written in stylish bold letters, flanked by a brilliant image of Lord Murugan on one side and a Ganesh Idol of dark stone on the other. I was astonished to see detailing done in painting the images of these two gods. The stylized Telugu lettering has a distinct appearance. Standing there observing that board, rather a canvas, I couldn't help but wonder the amazing creativity and the design sense and style in lettering, of that unknown sign board painter. He and many such belong to a unique tribe of artists…daring, unafraid to use bright hues.

The red background; bold 3D letters in gold; their perspective; a vibrant colour scheme of red gold blue and green and the decorative elaborate shapes… The effect they created culminated into an extraordinary piece of art. The result was captivating and made an ever lasting impression on my mind. Hats off to this painter and his skill.
